Hello, I'm Pip Cornall, welcome to the Male Challenge. (formerly sustainable masculinity - now operating as a health promotions charity)
The Male Challenge is really a challenge to all of us to play our part and help boys grow into good men.
There is no doubt this is a worth project because the very sustainability of the world depends on wise men with good ethics.
Women, children and mother nature - all depend on good wise men and suffer when men are not good.
We can and must help our boys and young men to grow into fantastic men for they are our future!
HOW: One way to produce more good men is to examine the negative aspects of our gender programming (its not all bad)
I've worked with young men in a juvenile prison in Oregon and Juvenile Justice Courts in Australia.
Before they were sentenced, I saw that these men were already in prison.
THE PRISON: The mental/social prison of 'false masculinity,' sets them up as criminals followed by time in a juvenile prison.
Both prisons had walls. The first had mental, emotional & social walls - the second had physical walls made of concrete and razor wire.
As we attempt to help boys grow into good men we need to show them how to 'get out of gaol free' - how to gain their release from the prison of 'false masculinity.'
I've done it - it's possible - it's not that hard; but there is only one of me. This false masculinity is an old fashioned meme; one which is totally inappropriate for the times we live in. It is as irrational as many of the old superstitions most humans believed in like flat earth.
As men, as humans, we can evolve (randomly) or we can evolve consciously. That is a choice.
There are many reasons we need to grow more good men - one reason is to change the way we treat women - the way we treat 50% of the global population...
Here for example are some statistics from the Gold Coast's Domestic Violence Prevention Centre
"Just under half a million Australian women reported that they had experienced physical or sexual violence or sexual assault in the past 12 months.
More than a million women had experienced physical or sexual assault by their male current or ex-partner since the age of 15 (some women may be counted twice if they experienced both physical and sexual assault)."
Consistent with my goals to promote healthier forms of masculinity I've published two new eBooks filled with videos, websites and resource packages designed for adults who want to help boys become fantastic men as well as for men and women who want to expore the social programming that boys and men are exposed to. (the good and the bad) These low cost tools can be spread virally through the internet for a massive social impact. Click here for video of the Books...
By fantastic men - I mean men who are emotionally and psychologically well-adjusted - men who promote integrity, kindness, intelligence and courage to do the 'right thing' at the 'right time, for the right reasons.'
Male Challenge (MC) now operates under the Grace Gawler Institute - a health promotion charity where I am a director. Proceeds from sales will go to the charity to build the outreach and effectiveness of MC and the other health promotion goals of the organisation.
In helping boys become emotionally competent men, this in turn reduces liklihood of health issues and illnesses men may develop. Be sure to see the men's health and prostate cancer page.
